i have an internet job - a job that is facilitated by the internet, certainly. i've worked from home for at least the last three years.

monday we got some extremely bad weather. i was inside kroger when the bottom opened up. i had said seconds prior, "i can probably make it to the car." i was unable to make it to the car. hit with sideways rain and wind like you wouldn't believe.

up the road from the house, winds knocked over some trees into power lines. living ones. the dead ones in my backyard decided to flay themselves and release two million tiny sticks, delaying the inevitable.

being without internet because you didn't pay the bill is one thing. being without internet, unable to work because of a natural disaster is another. there's very little you can do on a cellphone alone.
