i feel it's important to make a lazy attempt at documenting the canadian govt fuckery

if it can happen to a bunch of truckers fed up with the govt, it can happen to you just as easily. if not infinitely easier.

a few days ago, givesendgo was "hacked" by an unpatched AWS vulnerability and their donor db was leaked. because of course it was.

(crabcrawler, twitter)

of course, journos made haste to be "on the right side of history" and write articles about the people and companies who donated to the trucker fund.

eventually, a journo is going to fuck with the wrong person. guess we'll see.

What's is happening in the land of frozen maple syrup should be seen (at least currently) as a blue print for the rest of the world to follow, the peaceful assembly of protest. The Canadian Charter of Rights & Freedoms while not as “free” as the American constitution, is still an article that recognizes the peoples’ right to protest.

The current protests happening across Canada were first organized in the province of Alberta, a province which many have said is the “Texas of Canada” or one of the bluest (conservative) provinces in the country, right behind Saskatchewan.

Some of the organizers also have links to the provincial party known as The Maverick Party, a “separatists” party deemed by many in the mainstream Canadian press. Much of this stems from the way the Canadian voting system works and how the western provinces have always felt they never really had a say in federal elections. Due to this feeling and being a majority conservative province for many decades, opposition to Federal decisions is not uncommon.

Enter The Mandates

Much like Canada’s cousins to the south, all CDL truckers were recently required to be vaxxed in order to cross the border. Many of the truckers were already vaxxed but because the Mandates were coming Ottawa and from a Leader that many in the country do like, many of the conservative strongholds were having of that. So many from the western provinces organized on the grass roots level, crowd funded some money soley for truckers needs and the rest is history.

The Sleep Giant Awakens

Many farmers in Alberta have begun organizing to rally with their fellow trucker brethren at the Alberta border. Canadian farmers have had a long history of disputes with the Canadian federal government, the latest being a protest against the Trans Pacific Partnership. What will this mean? It’s too early to tell, but the farmers have in the past brought their farm equipment onto the highways and caused major slows.
