This past week has been quite interesting in dealing with The Canadian health care system. Both of my parents got a really bad sinus infection to the point where neither of them could drive so I had to play taxi from one appointment to another and to another all week for both of them. This also included in killing time in waiting as well because dropping them off and driving home in the now crazy traffic just isn't worth it.

By the time I get home, I am totally tired have either went to sleep or zombie'd my way thru some MMO action for hours until I slam my head on desk from falling asleep.

I "kinda" miss having a regular work schedule since I actually like being a uh... what new name do they call a code monkey these days?

headcount is coming up next year for tier2 support - the dudes who do the actual work. they also focus on two of the company's products, which are practically the same product. my name has been brought up for promotion.

i am fucking terrified as i do not have the required skillset to move up. there's an assload of networking shit that i plainly do not know and ain't got time to learn off the clock. boss assures me i'd be learning on the clock, but my brain is full of holes and that information would be thrown into a bottomless pit.

boss says it's a "significant" raise in pay. i've heard +15-20%, which is quite a bit overall.

when i'm able, i'll ask about turnover/burnout rate.

my dudes, i am absolutely shitter shattered over failing.

cut to this morning. i raise the seat and there's a huge crack running down the side. in a fit of frustration, i made it break straight up. i also scraped the living dogshit out of my arm. the pain lets you know you're alive, right?
