Got word my family doctor is finally retiring at the age of 86 next March and that I am "outta luck" in being moved over to the new person whose picking up the practice. I had the same issue with my newer dentist, guy simply just walked off the job and left people hanging.

so the doctors figured out why dad had a (mini) stroke. eating goddam whatever caused him to get a massive kidney infection, which led to sepsis, which led to having the stroke. when i was in the ER with him watching the life drain from his face, i listened to the doc explain that it was a fucking miracle he didn't have THE BIG ONE. all because he took an aspirin a day. when dad got up into a room, he just complained until the hospital staff was thoroughly over his bullshit and discharged him. about four days later. i got this sobering feeling it's just a matter of time now. which, i mean, is true but fuc. |

over the thanksgiving holiday, my sister informed me that dad mentioned to her recently that he wants to be buried next to his new wife and not the old one (my mom). dude can't even say her name anymore. he always refers to her as "your mother". i don't know the first thing about losing a spouse and how long you're supposed to grieve, but damn. i guess 26 years is long enough. hell, about two years was probably enough. mom passed when i was a teenager around christmas 1996. that next year around christmas again, dad's work was restructuring and we were forced to move to louisiana. that next summer, he quit his job and a couple of months later he was back dating. doing extremely stupid shit. like loaning his newly bought used car out to her/her son. like fuckin excuse me? who are you again? he got re-married to his current wife in 2002. so it could have been 2001 or so when he got over everything. five years is all it takes, i guess. |

Well, my sister in law whose a nurse seems to be VERY concerned about that V-A-X thing and it's long term effects. It seems my warnings weren't completely ignored and more people were actually listening to me than I figured. My one friend who was going hardcore into left leaning politics and was about to become a local politician himself back in 2019 is now a full on TOP G trash talking, right leaning.. uh.. Something? I'm just glad to see people weren't the total sheep that I figured them for just a year or so ago. At this point, I just want a soft reset to 80's politics, when things more comfy and less "CIVIL WAR" like that I keep hearing on a daily basis. |

it's apparent i don't know who he is. since he and i have had such a shaky relationship as it is, i had never realized how hard-headed he was. takes mine and amplifies it by a lot. "i got this" no you fucking don't sit down, allow me help sister and he talk almost every day. she is used to him and his mannerisms. i have been largely absent from his new family life. i'm still seen as the black sheep. |

on tuesday afternoon (7 NOV) dad needed to go pee and tried to get up from his chair, but his legs wouldn't respond. stepmom called the fire dept to get them to help get him up. they made the decision to call the ambulance. emergency doc was saying he may have had a mini-stroke and it's a miracle he didn't get a full one because he's on blood pressure medicine and an aspirin. they got him up to a room yesterday (8 NOV). doc in charge of him said he's got pnemonia in his left lung, an infection in his blood from e-coli (sepsis), and an arithmetic (irregular) heartrate. they were in the middle of doing blood cultures to find out exactly where the infection is coming from. he's almost 80 and has never been in the hospital for anything serious. if this takes a turn and is the big one, he's lived a long life. the only reason i'm not a blithering emotional mess is because of the happy pills. there's time to reflect and cry later. [update - 9NOV2023 11:40am] sister went up there last night. they looked over pictures from her vacation in europe from this year. she said he looked and felt a lot better. nurses came in and did a renal (kidney) ultrasound. the main doc had mentioned kidney stones that are not coming out could possibly be the source of the infection. labs are still working on blood cultures. i'm going up there for my shift when wife gets off work (around 5) as we only have one car. |
