Yeah it's as bad as people make it out to be to the most extent. It's still very early to see if will crash burn in a awesome fire dumpster, it nukes up all or somewhere in the middle.

I kind of view it something that happened over a hundred years ago with this cool invention called the Fridge. During the good old days, there was a whole industry around in selling ice. Ice farmers would cut up ice from lakes and the logistics of transporting ice around the world to people's ice box/room was a thing. When fridges came onto the scene, the writing on the wall wasn't 100% as the fridgation system wasn't fully working yet.

We are kind of at that point, we don't know yet and for that, I keep using it in parts of my work until such time.

indeed they are. however, i'm all out of empathy. especially for regular united states citizens, of whomstve are actively impeding the feds from retrieving illegal monsters (gang bangers, rapists, killers, kid diddlers, etc), and getting their shit rocked. they could have stayed home; bitched on the internet. instead, they will very likely be charged with felonies and thrown in prison.

unfortunate, but largely avoidable.

then again, people are making - in my personal opinion - poor decisions with their freedoms. both online and irl. the US, for all its faults, is not a dictatorship. a lot of you may feel differently, i get that.

there was a repeated phrase "freedom of speech, not freedom of consequence" crammed down our throats for the slightest infractions. the pendulum has swung the other direction. unfortunate, but it is what it is.

it is exhausting to see people get emotionally invested in suicidal empathy. then, the moment they disagree with the collective guilt, they are ostracized and shunned from the in-group.

you are your own person and you can make up your own mind.

i know that is a tall ask.

i know a lot of people don't want to make up their own minds and find it much easier to go along with whatever is the popular, cultural opinion.

in the end, i hope you're right. but until then, i will not stop laughing at the absurdity.

rules - in every aspect of your life - are there to prevent you from "finding out" the consequences of your ill-thought actions. which MAY occur. MAY is the word doing the extremely heavy lifting here. "will probably" is more grounded in reality. depending on the issue, "will absolutely, you fucking dumbass" be the case.

of course, you have free will to do whatever you want. you can choose to do XYZ on your own accord, which may result in a positive. you can also choose to do 123, which will probably result in an extremely negative outcome. but, again, you're free to choose to do [thing] any way you want.

for example, imagine you are at a zoo. there is a siberian tiger in a cage. the cage walls are very high, let's say 12 and a half feet, but there is no top on it. you choose to start "fuck(ing) around" with the tiger, of whomst is clearly not pleased by your choice. continuing to fuck with the tiger is only making the "find out" phase shorten its distance to you; the one fucking with the tiger.

the average siberian tiger has an alleged max vertical leap of 12-16 feet without a running start.

one could argue that the continuing of fucking with the caged animal could result in a fatality. maybe not you right then, but someone else. maybe not immediately, but possibly down the road.

this is the core principle.
